A day to celebrate all wildlife, from a small ant to large elephant they are all part of our wonderful eco system.
A message from the United Nations,
“On this World Wildlife Day, I call on all citizens, businesses and governments to play their part in protecting the world’s wild animals and plants. The actions taken by each of us will determine the fate of the world’s wildlife. The future of wildlife is in our hands!” – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon
Take a moment to think about this. We are guardians of our world, we are on this planet for a finite amount of time and it is our responsibility to maintain and preserve it for future generations.
Wherever you are on this big wide world, be it the UK or Africa we must join together to protect all wildlife, both in our home countries and abroad. Without co-operation and explanation of each other’s issues, how can we succeed in this vital work?
One area dear to our hearts is the poaching crisis. Horn and ivory – is a natural substance, eating it is like eating your fingernails. Ivory is considered to be a symbol of wealth and or lucky – it’s not. It should be on the animals where it belongs.
Every 15 minutes an elephant losses it life due to poaching – Think about that.
